From Gaza To Tel-Aviv

The Harrowing Tale of a Palestinian Convert to Judaism

"The Jews are creatures with three legs and an eye in their forehead."

"This is what they taught us since we were children; they instilled in us hate instead of love, death instead of life."

Dor Shachar, formerly Ayman Abu Soobuch, was born in 1977 in Khan Yunis, Gaza, into a Palestinian Muslim family. Immersed in an environment of intense anti-Jewish sentiment and growing up near prominent militant figures, his early life was shaped by a narrative of conflict. However, a profound spiritual awakening in his youth revealed his true identity as a Jewish soul.

His path to claiming this identity was fraught with extreme adversity, including persecution, imprisonment, and torture in Gaza, followed by significant challenges upon reaching Israel. Despite these immense obstacles, Dor persevered, driven by an unwavering faith. Today, he is a proud Israeli citizen, a compelling voice for Israel on the global stage ("hasbara"), and a symbol of hope. Dor travels the world sharing his remarkable story, advocating for peace and understanding, embodying the message of his name: "Dor Shachar" – a generation of love, heralding a new day.

Media Advocacy

The truth that cannot be silenced

Since October 7th, my story has become more critical than ever. I was born in Gaza; I was raised within the hatred. I absorbed Palestinian propaganda from day one and experienced firsthand how children are educated for murder and terror. I don’t speak from theory or rumors - I was there. I saw it. I know.

In a world where lies have been weaponized, advocacy (Hasbara) is a front line in every sense. When I am interviewed on television, speak on the radio, or appear in the press, I am not there to have a theoretical debate - I am providing live testimony. I tell the truth as I experienced it: about schools in Gaza that teach children to kill; about a younger generation raised to believe that Jews are not human beings; and about how every Israeli military operation is exploited for victim-propaganda to mask the true mechanism of Hamas.

I know what life looks like under the rule of terror. I know what really happens behind the scenes of the global media. I know because I was there - and I nearly paid with my life for my choice to think differently.

When I speak in the media, I do it for all those who cannot speak. For those born into a reality they have no power to challenge. For the children taught to hate from birth, who may never hear a story like mine. I speak for all the Jews attacked around the world because of lies, and for all Israelis living in the face of a continuous, distorted media reality.

HASBARA

For the People and the State of Israel

I am not silent. I cannot be silent.

After everything I have endured, and after all the lies I was forced to believe as a child in Gaza, I dedicate my life to exposing the truth - about Israel, about the Jewish people, about the conflict, and about the lies spread against us worldwide.

I interview for foreign media outlets, facing hostile hosts and spokespeople who attempt to spread anti-Israel propaganda. I speak from personal experience, from pain, and from what I have seen with my own eyes and heard with my own ears.

On social media, I upload videos, write posts, and share stories, because Israeli advocacy (Hasbara) cannot remain only within government halls - it must reach every person in the world. In the face of non-stop lies, I use my platform to present the true reality.

When I stand before audiences abroad, I see the shock in their eyes - because they have never heard what I have to tell. They were raised to believe that Israelis are the villains and Palestinians are the victims, not realizing that the real enemy is the hatred rooted there since childhood.

I am here to change the narrative and to fight for the truth.
I am here to defend the People of Israel.

Dor Shachar Portrait

I was born Ayman Abu Suboh in 1977, in Khan Yunis, Gaza. I grew up in an environment hostile to Israel, where I was educated to see Jews as enemies. Yet, from a very young age, I felt that I did not belong to the place where I was raised.

At the age of 13, I made a fateful decision – to flee the Gaza Strip and seek a different future for myself. I crossed the border into Israel and faced numerous challenges. I lived in welfare institutions, met new people, and was exposed to a reality entirely different from the one I had known. Over the years, I discovered Judaism and fell in love with it.

After a profound internal journey, I chose to undergo the process of conversion (Giyur) and become part of the Jewish people. Upon completing my conversion, I chose the Hebrew name Dor Shachar – a name that symbolizes for me a new beginning and light after the darkness.

Today, I lecture on my life story and the complexities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, aiming to expose people to the truth through my personal experiences. Additionally, I am active in digital diplomacy and advocacy on social media, where I share my views and present a unique perspective on the events in our region.

I am also an actor, using the stage as a tool to convey messages and bridge different worlds. My journey - from Khan Yunis to Mount Sinai, from a childhood in Gaza to living as a proud Jew - is proof that a person can choose their own path, even when their environment tries to impose a different one.

I am here to tell, to share, and to convey the truth - based on a genuine, personal experience.
